Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sept 8, 2014, This handsome boy showed up at our door. He was thin and we could count the ribs on him. We took him in and he got along very well with our other dogs (Rottweilers) and our cats. He had been trained by someone because he knows the commands, Sit, Stay, Shake, Wait, Heel, Speak and is House broken. We went and got him neutered, vaccines and a microchip installed. The Vet thinks he is about 2-3 years old. I put up flyers around our small town of 772 population and I got a call from a friend that he showed up at their place as well and they were feeding him. They said they'd take him back because he was such a nice dog. ... (Read More) He does mind being on a lead, but I rather have my animals be free to roam, but with the Lemon Walker in him, he DOES roam and took our Rottie pup with him, which is a no-no. We also have goats, which he tries to herds and barks when they ignore him. He started nippy at the ears of one of them and being way too aggressive - again teaching the other dogs - oh, is this how we are to act with them? Another no-no. So, he went back to the other people's place because I could not have him teaching bad habits to our dogs and he did not quite understand the concept of not chasing goats and chickens. Thanksgiving 2014, we came home to 30 dead chickens - he got into the pen and ran them down. He ran back here from their place - about a mile away. At this point, my husband wanted to shot him, but he really is a good dog (other than be a chicken killer and goat chaser and a roamer) and of course I want to see him in a good home with someone that could devote more time with him. He is anxious dog - tends to sit and whine a lot but I truly feel it is stress. He does not know where he belongs - here or there - so when he can - he comes for a visit and we take him back home. Today, Jan 13, 2015, he shows back up and once again starts his barking and chasing the goats. I called his owners and she asked if I could find him a home. Her husband was being placed on Hospice and the dog hair was making it hard for her husband to breath. The dog was just too much for her to handle at this time. Hence, this ADOPTION page for him. He lives in Hardy, Arkansas and will be FREE to a home that can provide adequate space for him to roam, a hunter or kids to take him in the woods and let him be what he is -a hound. Thank you and hope to hear from you soon. Any questions, be glad to answer. (Less)

I have a reputation.... and it is that I am a very sweet girl and that I love everybody! I am Nellie, a beautiful black and tan coonhound mix, born in April, 2013.
