|Rescue Me ID: 16-02-22-00588Henry (male)|
Henry has lived through so much in his short 18 months. He has been starved 'for the hunt' and left abandoned in the woods by the hunter who was supposed to care about him. On his own in the woods, visually impaired and frightened was a scary time for our sweet boy. We truly believe that Henry's sweet and curious spirit kept him alive. Henry has gotten his first taste of the good life...food and fresh water every day, a warm bed in a house to sleep in, treats, walks....and lots of love! He's doing very well. He has mastered his housebreaking skills, he is crate trained, and he's very sociable and loving. Henry just loves life! Although Henry has made great strides....he has a long journey ahead of him. He is part of our foster to adopt program. Henry is currently undergoing treatment for tick borne diseases - erlichia, lymes (mild case) and heartworm treatment. Once he has cleared he will require a neuter. At the present time he is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. The rescue will be responsible for all of Henry's vetting (as well as costs) while he remains in our program. We are looking for a home that would continue teaching Henry how to be a dog, follow both our and our vets health care instructions....and will teach this boy how to adjust and become part of a family, whether it be human or other furkids. This is what we know about Henry right now from his current foster: he is personable and loves to give and receive love and attention, he will chase the feral cats in the yard but has had no incidents with the 2 indoor cats, he is cautious with other dogs (and can be gruff - if they startle him - remember he is visually impaired and learning to trust), he should be fed separately from other furkids (simply because he is learning how to be a dog), he is quiet and does sleep through the night in a crate, he has not yet learned what to do with toys, and he is doing a great job at mastering his leash skills. He would probably do best as an only furkid or with dogs of his own size. If you would like to learn more about Henry please contact our rescue. Families inquiring about fostering to adopt must be able to take Henry to necessary vet appointments with our vet in Easton, MD. No exceptions. Once Henry is available for adoption he will have a $300 adoption fee. We expect this will be in 3-6 months. (Less)
