Treeing Walker Coonhound    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name's Hupert. I'm a eight-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. Now, I know what you're thinking. Everybody seems to think that you can't teach an old dog new tricks... but folks, I'm here to tell you that that just isn't true! I'm just as friendly as any puppy, and I get around just as well, too (I seem to drag one of my back legs a bit, but it doesn't seem to slow me down.) I'm very affectionate, and love to be near people. I'm a very alert dog, and seem to understand every word you are saying. I am food motivated, and am a quick learner. And, if you haven't noticed by now, I'm a pretty handsome pooch. I might not be as adorable ... (Read More)as I was as a pup, but I like to think that the graying around my muzzle gives me a distinguished aire. Yes? The shelter really isn't a place for an older gentleman like me, but with my heart-winning smile and big puppy eyes, I'm sure that the right person will fall in love with me sooner or later. I just hope that they come sooner, because I've got squirrels to chase and walks in the woods to take! Will it be you? (Less)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Adult

This sweet emaciated girl was found and on her way to a kill shelter. Luckily, a kind-hearted individual took her into their care before bringing her to our rescue. She is a loving girl who is approximately 7 years old. She is playful and loves to play in the creek nearby her foster home. She is house trained, heartworm negative, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is terrified of thunder but otherwise is a brave inquisitive girl, very smart! She is learning to walk on a leash and is putting on weight nicely. Please visit www.lovemuttsrescue.org for more information, to complete an application, or to learn about our adoption events!

Meet Isaiah! Isaiah is a young and attractive tri-color Treeing Walker Coonhound (TWC) who's looking for a forever home. He's right at a year old weighing in at 48 pounds and is a complete joy to be around. He has been neutered, microchipped UTD vaccines. This boy is one of the friendliest dogs you'd ever meet and is sure to win you over with his loving personality! Isaiah is a very sweet boy and a complete love bug; he is a little shy at first toward strangers but is quick to warm up to everyone he meets. This boy here has an extreme craving for human attention and loves to have his ears scratched and belly rubbed. Isaiah is very ... (Read More)intelligent and aseptically well behaved; leash trained, knows the meaning of 'sit' and 'lay down' as well as couple of tricks like shaking hands and rolling over. Unlike most hounds, Isaiah is a fairly quiet dog; he only tends to bark when it's feeding time and he's hungry or simply wants your attention. This guy has a pretty goofy personality and is sure to make you laugh over his silly antics. Isaiah is a very exuberant dog who loves to put a smile on your face. He has quite the play drive and loves to run around and explore his surroundings. Isaiah loves making friends and gets along great with dogs as well as other animals, though he can be a bit aggressive when it comes to food. Without a shadow of a doubt, we guarantee that this dog would make a great addition to your family. To make a long story short, this good boy simply loves to be loved and is the perfect dog who's looking for the perfect family that he so deserves! Please contact us for Adoption Application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-31-00629Darby (female)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Darby! Darby is a uniquely colored and perky little TWC/ Plott Hound mix who's looking for a forever home. She's estimated to be around 10 months old and just the cutest little thing weighing in around 45lbs. Darby is undoubtedly one of the sweetest little dogs you'd ever meet; everyone that meets her falls in love with her and it's pretty easy to see why. With her big floppy ears and her love for human interaction, she is just a complete joy to be around! Darby unfortunately had a bit of a rough start but has nothing but bright days ahead of her. Darby is an extremely intelligent puppy and is doing well with her basic obedience ... (Read More)training; she's already leash and crate trained, is slowing perfecting the meaning of 'sit' and 'lay down', and will go wherever you go! She does have a rather dominant streak however, so we wouldn't recommend her to inexperienced or timid dog owners who are unable to consistently enforce rules and commands. Darby is a pretty outgoing dog with a very active lifestyle, therefore she would not make a good candidate for the condominium or apartment dweller unless you are ready to take on the daunting task of providing her with the necessary amount of exercise and stimulation. Darby is a huge fan of doggie toys, especially ones that squeak and she absolutely loves to play tug-of-war. When she finally winds down and wants your loving attention, she is nothing short of a complete cuddle bug and will curl up on the couch for some affection and relaxation. Darby gets along great with other dogs as well as her foster's pet sheep and even cats! In fact, Darby loves being around cats so much that she always tries to encourage them to play with her as well as snuggling up with them during naps. This girl here has a big personality with an even bigger heart and will without a doubt love you unconditionally. With her sweet loving nature towards people and animals, we guarantee that she would make a great addition for you and your family. Long story short, Darby simply loves to be loved and is ready for a life at a forever home that she so deserves! Darby is spayed, HW negative and UTD on her shots (She is also chipped!).     Hi there folks! I am George!! Curious as can be and good looking to boot! I am a senior around age 8. Treeing Walker Coonhound is the breed. Sniffing is what I love to do! As well as be loved on by you. I am sweet and kind. I would do fine with other dogs but I would chase cats as I have that hunter dog prey drive. I am HW free which is a miracle. So how did I get here to FCHS you ask. Well on a day a few months ago I was tired of being alone and on the go. I found a wonder horse stall in covered barn. It was warm and the hay was thick. The thing is as much as I loved it there I was told a family is even better and I tend to ... (Read More)agree. So I am in foster care. Do you loves seniors? Am I your guy? To adopt me $225 FCHS is getting me neutered, UTD on shots, microchipped and ready for you. Please do not pass me by due to my age. I have more love to give you. www.fchsnc.org/adoptable-dogs (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-11-13-00173Blackberry (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered

Blackberry is a 4-year-old tri-colored hound mix in foster in the Charlotte area. He weighs about 65 lbs. Here is an update from his foster: Blackberry is house and crate trained. He does howl if you put him in crate at night because he prefers to sleep on the couch (we don't crate him at night anymore since he doesn't have accidents anymore). LOVES kids!!! LOVES!! He is rambunctious and knocks Isabella (1 year old) down a lot, so older kids may be best (unless the parents are like us and don't mind their kid getting knocked down some....). He is gentle with her and lets her lay all over him! He loves to be outside when the older kids in ... (Read More)the neighborhood are out and goes up to each and everyone of them to get some love! Walks decently on leash (still a work in progress). He will pee on leash but it takes him a while to poop on leash, but we have a fenced yard so we usually just let him poop out there. Needs at least a 6 foot fence or to be on leash at all times!! We have a 4 1/2 foot fence that he can jump over easily! He can probably get over a 6 foot fence too if there something against the fence for him to jump on to help him over. LOVES food and treats. He always takes treats nicely unless the rest of the other dogs are around and then he can get kind of choppy because he is worried that they're going to steal it. The only time I have ever seen him snarl at the other dogs is when he is in his crate eating and they go over to sniff his bowl. I can put my hand in his food bowl and take it away from him with no problems. He likes to chew on toys and will get a baby toy every now and then, but if you snap your fingers and tell him to leave it he just walks away. He really enjoys being petted and will stand there and let you pet and rub him as long as you will do it! He gets along well with all of our dogs, but does tend to buy a little hard while playing. We have not officially cat tested him but there are some feral cats that live around here that he will give the play position to but they just run away from him...so I can't give a good opinion on cats or small dogs. He is a hound and can be stubborn so teaching him to sit is also a work in progress....right now he just continuously backs up when I tried to get him to sit, so he hasn't mastered that yet. Overall, he is a very, very sweet dog and would be great in most any home. ******************************** LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/lovemuttsrescue Visit our WEBSITE www.lovemuttsrescue.org to find out more about our upcoming adoption events around the Triangle and which dogs will be there.
