Hi there folks! I am George!! Curious as can be and good looking to boot! I am a senior around age 8. Treeing Walker Coonhound is the breed. Sniffing is what I love to do! As well as be loved on by you. I am sweet and kind. I would do fine with other dogs but I would chase cats as I have that hunter dog prey drive. I am HW free which is a miracle. So how did I get here to FCHS you ask. Well on a day a few months ago I was tired of being alone and on the go. I found a wonder horse stall in covered barn. It was warm and the hay was thick. The thing is as much as I loved it there I was told a family is even better and I tend to ... (Read More)agree. So I am in foster care. Do you loves seniors? Am I your guy? To adopt me $225 FCHS is getting me neutered, UTD on shots, microchipped and ready for you. Please do not pass me by due to my age. I have more love to give you. www.fchsnc.org/adoptable-dogs (Less)

Boomer, or Boomie as we call him, is a strikingly beautiful treeing walker coonhound. And nope, that dog don't hunt....he was rescued from the Cumberland County shelter in NC. We guestimate he about 12 months old. He weighs 70 lbs and is a bundle of energy. He likes to play with other dogs but really enjoys the company of his human. He needs either constant canine companionship or human companionship. But he will give you lots of love in return. He thinks he is a lap dog; stay warm with Boomer on cold winter nights!

Harper is a wonderful 4.5 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound, she's loving and affectionate and incredibly loyal. She enjoys everyone and everyone enjoys her, she's sociable and outgoing. She was originally next in line to be euthanized in Shelby NC, until a group rescued her and brought her up to New York where my wife and I adopted her. We eventually moved down to North Carolina and my wife and I separated, leaving me to sign a lease in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs. She has no medical problems and her vaccine history is current as well as her heartworm prevention. She is very food motivated and will listen easily if you train her ... Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Bruno (Mars) and I am a young, energetic, intelligent and extremely handsome Redbone Coonhound! I am around one year old and have lots of fun energy. I love to romp around my foster moms backyard for a long time playing with my foster siblings. I ADORE other dogs and must go to a home with at least one other dog. I do best with dogs that are 30 pounds or bigger and who like to play hard! My high energy can be overwhelming for a small dog though I am not aggressive with them. I am looking for a home with a fenced in back yard as well since I have such high energy! As any hound does, I have the nose of a life time. I love to ... (Read More)sniff and if I catch a scent I become determined to follow it! My foster mom uses an Easy Walk Harness with me and it helps a lot! I really love to go for walks as well as play in the backyard! I am great with my human foster cousins who are 8 and 10! They love me and my floppy ears! When they come over we play fetch in the back yard with my other furry foster siblings for hours! Because I am young and goofy and am still learning how to respect others space I want to avoid going to a home with small children! I am a notorious counter surfer (though I am improving every day) and sometimes I walk right off the couch on to the coffee table. Foster mom is working with me on house manners but some of these traits are just what it is to be a hound! Someone who loves an energetic, loving and sometimes mischevious companion would be perfect for me! I also have that adorable hound bark which my foster mom thinks is so precious! I am up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevetion. My adoption fee is $225. If you have any questions about me please email my foster mom at FCHSLauraElizabeth@gmail.com To adopt me please fill out this application! https://fchsnc.formstack.com/forms/dogadoptionform_ I can't wait to meet my FURever family! He's heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on shots. Alexander is kid approved, dog approved, and kitty approved. His foster parents are working on basic commands due to no previous training and also proper leash manners. He does well on a leash already but he gets over excited and starts pulling. Treeing Walker Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

This young hound walked up our driveway recently and decided to stay! She has no collar or tags. We have not been able to locate her owner. She is a sweetie but we already have 4 other rescue dogs and cannot afford another one. She appears to have been well cared for. Her coat is beautiful and shiny. It is a pleasure to watch her run as gracefully as a deer. She gets along with our other dogs without a problem. She is not a barker- although she does a 'hound howl' when our other dogs are starting their symphony.

Daisy is a Treeing Walker dropped off at the Vet Clinic that I work at. The previous owner that dropped her off and surrendered her had adopted her from the shelter and wasn't prepared to take care of a Walker! I took her home so she wasn't stuck at the clinic, but cannot keep her. I need to find a new home for her asap. She's VERY sweet. Wants to hunt ('trees' everything at my house and tried to run away to find other dogs barking in my little country neighborhood.) There are some hunting folks near me and when they are out with their hunting baying dogs she tries to find them. She can be called off (great recall) but if you aren't ... (Read More)watching her or with her, she will end up with them. She does appears to have had an E collar misused on her as she was overly sensitive when one was tried on her appropriately. She freezes. Using just tone or vibrate. She's 2 y.o. spayed, UTD on vaccines and has no known health problems (Heartworm negative too). She's a cuddler and loves to be near her person at all times. She will relax in a crate after some good exercise as asked to also. Please let me know if you know a good rescue that will take her or you know someone that might be interested (and experienced) to provide her a good forever home! (Less)

UPDATE ON RUDY'S SIGHT PROBLEMS FROM HIS FOSTER MOM: Rudy gets around very well, both inside and out. If I should change direction on him, for example while walking through the house when he is going the same direction heading for a treat or to go out, it takes him a second to catch on, and we may lightly bump, but he really is not handicapped very much at all. I have been cleaning the porch over several days, and leaving furniture, etc., in different places than normal. Doesn't faze him at all. We still feel Rudy would need a fenced yard or should be on a leash at all times when he is outside Rudy From Rudy's foster mom: Rudy, I ... (Read More)have been told, is a Deerhound. He apparently had been running loose for some time before making his way to my house. He is about three years old, and is a 'Special Needs' dog because he has a congenital eye disease called Mydriasis that has robbed him of some of his sight. The vet thinks that his sight won't get any worse than it is now. He gets around fairly well and off-leash he chooses to run, not walk. The other day he was chasing flying bugs in the back yard. If you are interested in Rudy, please go to apsofpc.org and fill out the non-binding Adoption Application. We will contact you after we receive it. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-11-13-00173Blackberry (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered

Blackberry is a 4-year-old tri-colored hound mix in foster in the Charlotte area. He weighs about 65 lbs. Here is an update from his foster: Blackberry is house and crate trained. He does howl if you put him in crate at night because he prefers to sleep on the couch (we don't crate him at night anymore since he doesn't have accidents anymore). LOVES kids!!! LOVES!! He is rambunctious and knocks Isabella (1 year old) down a lot, so older kids may be best (unless the parents are like us and don't mind their kid getting knocked down some....). He is gentle with her and lets her lay all over him! He loves to be outside when the older kids in ... (Read More)the neighborhood are out and goes up to each and everyone of them to get some love! Walks decently on leash (still a work in progress). He will pee on leash but it takes him a while to poop on leash, but we have a fenced yard so we usually just let him poop out there. Needs at least a 6 foot fence or to be on leash at all times!! We have a 4 1/2 foot fence that he can jump over easily! He can probably get over a 6 foot fence too if there something against the fence for him to jump on to help him over. LOVES food and treats. He always takes treats nicely unless the rest of the other dogs are around and then he can get kind of choppy because he is worried that they're going to steal it. The only time I have ever seen him snarl at the other dogs is when he is in his crate eating and they go over to sniff his bowl. I can put my hand in his food bowl and take it away from him with no problems. He likes to chew on toys and will get a baby toy every now and then, but if you snap your fingers and tell him to leave it he just walks away. He really enjoys being petted and will stand there and let you pet and rub him as long as you will do it! He gets along well with all of our dogs, but does tend to buy a little hard while playing. We have not officially cat tested him but there are some feral cats that live around here that he will give the play position to but they just run away from him...so I can't give a good opinion on cats or small dogs. He is a hound and can be stubborn so teaching him to sit is also a work in progress....right now he just continuously backs up when I tried to get him to sit, so he hasn't mastered that yet. Overall, he is a very, very sweet dog and would be great in most any home. ******************************** LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/lovemuttsrescue Visit our WEBSITE www.lovemuttsrescue.org to find out more about our upcoming adoption events around the Triangle and which dogs will be there.
